There’s this really cool story in Joshua 6, where a group of people had hopes of conquering the city of Jericho. Joshua and the Israelites were told to march around the walls of Jericho until they fell down. They marched for SEVEN days until the wall waiting for the Lord to fulfill His promise to the Israelites. On that seventh day they marched seven times around the wall, horns were blasting, raising great shouts, and then boom the wall fell.
I look at the story and I wonder as an Israelite what they were thinking by the fourth, fifth, even sixth day with the wall still standing. My thoughts would have been consumed by doubt that this wall was going to ever fall. “God, it’s been long enough and this wall is still here…” “God did you leave me to do this on my own?” Here’s the thing, we all have walls that we’re desperately crying out to come crumbling down. We see them and instantly our eyes widen and our stomach sinks. We look at our walls and as Christians we march around them declaring that they will fall, but we march in our timing. By the third, fourth, or fifth day we quit pressing on. We tell ourselves that it’s been long enough and God is no longer with us in this process.
When I convinced myself of this I stopped marching and took on my wall on my own. Without God, I tried climbing. “I don’t need it to fall, I just need to keep moving forward.” My family, my school, my job, my hobbies all became a foot hold to climb over my wall. Did you notice the use of “my”? I was taking on something that I was never meant to do alone. There was no me and God and because of that every time I thought I had reached the top of my wall I fell.
I cried out to God, “Please I cannot do this anymore, why is the wall still here?” I heard Jesus speaking really clearly to me that day. Without him I would fail every time. I need him. He has to be the one to destroy this wall because if I do it all the glory would be mine and not His. Two thousand years ago He hung on a cross and when He rose three days later the earth shook and a tomb cracked and the day His tombstone crumbled, was the same day my wall fell. He HAS defeated everything we face. He knows the walls we will face and He’s marching alongside beside us. With nail scarred hands He’s marching beside us holding our hand. With eyes filled with blazing fire and jealousy for US (think about that for a moment, the Creator of the entire universe is jealous for YOU. There’s your worth. You are wanted.)
He’s looking ahead of us and he sees what’s coming before we do. He prepares us before we even know what for. He’s marching from behind us and He takes His arms and He wraps us in unconditional love and grace. You are not alone. Jesus is marching with you. Write it down. Say it every morning. The most vital thing I’m learning with living for God is everything is in His timing.
It is His seventh day and not yours.
Trust that the Creator of the universe knows when His creation is ready. Keep marching because your seventh day is coming. Don’t stop. Some people get so close to the wall crumbling, it’s the sixth day and they’re tired and think it will never be won. Keep marching. Keep marching. Keep marching. You are so close to the seventh day. Get your trumpets ready, get your vocal chords ready, and get your fists ready to be pumping, because it is coming. Keep making those loud noises and declaring to your wall that, “Not by my strength but by Jesus will you fall. He carried a cross in His arms and the weight of the world on HIs back. You are nothing for im wall. YOU WILL FALL.”
John 16:33 says, “In this world you will face troubles, but take heart for I have overcome the world.”
We were never promised that we wouldn’t face adversity but that through the “Same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you!” (Romans 8:11, emphasis mine). Your depression will crumble, your family curse will crumble, your loneliness will crumble, your heart break will crumble, your addictions will crumble, and when it does it will be in glorious ruins. He will take the ruins and make something BEAUTIFUL. Did you get that? Depression can and will be made into something beautiful through Jesus. Addictions can and will be made beautiful through Jesus. So here it is guys, you have got this. Name your wall and right after that say to yourself “My seventh day is coming, my seventh day is coming, my seventh day is coming. Jericho is going to fall.”

1. Okay, take a moment and think about what your walls are?
2. Write them down and pray about them.
3. Apply these Scriptures to your prayers and write them down, don’t worry you won’t have to share them!
I’m grateful for this post. I’ve been wandering for so long and I’m faced with walls and giants. I’ve heard and learned many scriptures, however, I feel so lost. Yet, this sharing made me realize that GOD will break the walls for me, not by my own will. Ohh this is such a good reminder. Blessings! ❤

One of the most awesome things for me about the walls is that they didn’t crumble around them! They sank into the ground so they could march right in! Our GOD not only removes walls but he will remove all debris if we allow him to! Love yawls’ blogs! Keep the Faith!

Thank you so much Enni! It amazes us how God connects people through Jesus! He is so so good! I know I want a man that strives to be like Jesus, and that is worth waiting for, whether that mean 5 years, 10 years, or maybe never. That’s ok because I have a great amazing Daddy in heaven who loves me infinitely more than anything I could imagine! And we are definitely going to keep posting cause we can’t and won’t be quiet about what Jesus did for us!!
